100% agree sometimes it can be more of an art than science finding the right prescription.actually had a fancy established optometrist tell me he had to " punt" since my contacts prescription was not correct after the third try.One bonus of using an optometrist in a big box store is they will let you walk around the store to test contacts.Disagree. I gave up on my eye doctor after he wrote 3 prescriptions, all of them slightly off for astigmatism. He simply didn't have the patience to fine tune the angle untill he got it rightI think every optometrician who works for a chain is in the bottom half or quarter of the skill ladder. Nobody with a choice works there. Then again I would also be careful about those that just built themselves a heck of an office and need a pretty high cashflow for the next 20y to finance all this. Find an independent doctor with a small practice who´s been there for a while.
The one at my local Costco not only got it right the first time, he had visual aids that helped zero in the correct orientation.
They're usually booked a month out.
They probably see an order of magnitude more patients than ophthalmologists and have correspondingly way more experience.
