Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Where to find free tax help?

The AARP Tax-Aide sites are closed for the season, but I did a quick search on a random Seattle zip code and found that there are VITA sites that are still doing taxes. Use this link and change the zipcode/search criteria to find them.
https://irs.treasury.gov/freetaxprep

Or wait until next tax season, and go to one of the free volunteer tax sites and they can file both this year and next.
Concur, find a VITA/AARP office. Our local (I volunteer each year, it's a good thing) has ~6 sites open Feb-Apr, but only one is year round, for whatever comes up. Skeleton crew. And absolutely, any AARP/VITA site that you walk into in Feb 2025 will be able to file a prior year return without any issues - it comes up all the time. Or find a friend to sit down with, who still has HRBlock or Taxcut on their PC..... Paper filing is free, and that always works.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try getting them in touch with VITA/AARP, see how that goes. Don't know exactly what they earned, but I believe they will qualify for various refundable credits, so they would like to get the refund this year.
Sandramjet I senr you a PM.
Thanks... replied.
Public library probably isn't the safest place to do one's taxes. Don't they have their own computers?
uhhh...no. Being homeless and unemployed means they are lucky if they even have phone access...
