The first link I gave says: "our spouse must be receiving benefits for you to get benefits on their work record. If your spouse does not receive retirement or disability, you’ll have to wait to apply on your spouse’s record."but isn't it also true that you (wife) can't get a spousal benefit until your spouse starts claiming for himself?
The following document tells us, however: "If you file for one benefit, you are 'deemed' to file for the other one, too, even if you don’t become eligible for it until later."
