Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Has anyone used Greg Shepard, S&A Financial Services for TIAA?

@RosemaryRetiree: You mentioned in your other recent thread that you have 13 different TIAA contracts. While it's not unusual to have a handful of different contracts, 13 is definitely a large number!

The TIAA rep who is assisting you should be able to advise you on the options that you might have to move assets into contracts that have access to low cost index funds. These might include, for example:

Vanguard Institutional Index Fund Institutional Plus (VIIIX) - ER 0.002
Vanguard Institutional Index Fund Institutional (VINIX) - ER 0.0035

What you will be able to do is very dependent on the specific contracts that you have. Our WMA (rep) helped us with this recently--there's no way we would have been able to figure it out on our own.

Alternatively, you could use an IRA with a brokerage window and buy essentially any ETF for no commission.
Thank you for this information! It's not just the 13 contract, it's all the investments within each contract! I look forward to analyzing and consolidating. I have my investments backwards. I have a bunch of after-tax inefficient funds in TRowe Price and, if I go the index fund route in the retirement accounts, I won't have any managed funds that might be higher producing. The CREF funds aren't great, though.
