If you want a thermostat, you might have to ask for it. Often, mini splits come only with a remote and may or may not operate like you might expect. A friend had one installed and he was surprised that it only came with a remote and was not programmable like a conventional HVAC. He had the company install an add on thermostat (that might not be the technically correct name), and he is happier.
