Personal Finance (Not Investing) • At what net worth or income should one feel comfortable flying business or first class?

I fly over 100K miles annually domestically for business per year for the better part of the past decade. I’ve never bought a first class seat for myself as due to my flying status will get upgraded domestically for nearly 90% of flights. When traveling with spouse will typically make sure sure spouse and kid are in the front as a buy a ticket for myself and kid (get upgraded) and then economy plus for spouse or use miles and I will sit behind the curtain.

Flights less than 2 hours -anywhere on the plane is fine
Flights 3-4 hours - should at least be in the economy plus equivalent
Flights 5-6 hours domestically must be in economy plus or first class

For international travel - economy plus mandatory, business or first class dependent on length of overall travel (not my net worth). Won’t spent 8K one way if traveling for 3 days and my hotel bill or lodging will only be 2K. Still give spouse a budget for travel and lodging. Spouse prefers very nice lodging for 5-10 day trips instead of best airline seats over the 4K range.

Currently in Europe with family for 2 weeks. Lodging was about 5K in 3 cities but very very very comfortable for every day. Flight across pond was initially 7 hours in premium economy. 1 first class ticket was more than our entire lodging bill (much less for the family).
