Over the past month or so, my pickleball buddies have gotten frustrated with the Franklin X-40 balls. They seem to crack at least once a game. I just cracked a bunch over a short period of time.
Last year, I purchased the Onix G2. It seemed somewhat OK, but it wasn't as good as the Franklin X-40. It also didn't crack. It seems that ball technology has much improved since last year.
One person found an equivalent to the Franklin X-40 - the Selkirk Pro S1 Pickleball (manufacturer's website shown). We've been using this ball for a while and don't see any reason to go back to the Franklin X-40. We've had 1 ball crack over this time period, which is impressive. One ball went out of round.
A major selling point is that Selkirk offers a 1 year "No crack" warranty. I'm not sure it's worth it to file a claim, as you need a minimum of 4 balls to file a claim and they charge you a flat $6 processing fee. The details are here: Pro S1 Pickleball Warranty. However, the fact that they even offer a warranty says something about their marketing department - not to mention having confidence in the ball's performance.
I ordered a pack of Selkirk Pro S1 balls from Amazon, but it's been over a week and they haven't been shipped yet. I'm thinking this product is in high demand.
Does anyone have a suggestion for Franklin X-40 alternatives?
