First, preserve the heat you pay for. In your attic-
Seal (with spray foam or caulk) all electrical, plumbing, or duct penetrations.
Put radiant heat barrier in to keep top floor cool in summer
Add even more insulation
Seal hatch opening
In your basement, seal and insulate your rim joists. This makes a big difference in keeping it dry on the summer and warm in the winter.
These are cheap and easy to do. Once you've greatly reduced your heat loss, the J Load calculation will show that a smaller capacity heating system is sufficient. Your bills will be lower as long as the house exists.
