My wife worked for a company and has an IRA and we are in the process of moving it to Schwab.
I'm assuming what she needs to do at Schwab is to create a rollover IRA account?
Is a Traditional IRA what some people can contribute to yearly depending on their income and is separate from a 401K IRA?
She called them up but I think something got crossed up and they created a traditional account for her but then it asks for the year of the contribution so I know that has to be wrong.
(In the past when I've done this, I only contacted the receiving brokerage and things were transferred electronically but her old company uses a company that has to give her a check, made out to Schwab, and then we deposit it.)
I'm thinking it might be safest to just go to the local office and do it there.
Thanks.
