Doesn't that effectively work as margin (apart from purchasing securities on margin for leverage like you mention)?One key difference that remains is that CMA does not support margin. I personally don't use margin for the purpose of leverage, but I do use it so that I can buy securities without the exact amount of cash figured out. Then once the transaction is over I transfer in or sell the appropriate amount of shares to net it out so I never actually pay margin interest. Without margin I would need to have some kind of cash buffer so the buy order executes properly and then there is likely some leftover cash. Yes, it's small beans but that always kinda annoyed me.
