I shredded all my old paper when I retired. So, can't confirm. But, I'm pretty sure there was a time when TIAA Traditional crediting rates were near, or over, 10%! Of course, that was a time when interest rates and inflation were both high.
I was quite skeptical of that 10%+ claim, so I did a bit of research. It turns out that in much of the 1980's, the TIAA Trad crediting rate was indeed in that range. In fact, it was north of 6% from the early 1970's until about 2004. See Figure 1 in https://www.tiaa.org/content/dam/tiaa/i ... idence.pdf.
