+1I'm another person who uses the 5% back Prime Visa. So far this year, I've gotten $168.17, which means that they are paying me to be a Prime member.
I have watched Freevee movies on Amazon, but the ads are not a big deal to me. I wouldn't pay $2.99 to remove them.
Kanopy and Hoopla both have free streaming movies and tv with no commercials; I recommend them both.
Amazon Prime works well for me with the 5% back. I find some movies I like on Prime Video but their user interface is horrible and has been getting worse (maybe in preparation for the transition to the pay/ad model). For example, I've tried to watch a couple "free" videos recently that aren't "available" in my area. Not sure why. It wastes a lot of time looking for something to watch. I doubt I will pay extra for the ad-free unless they make substantial improvements to their video search function and I find content I'm interested in.
I also agree re: Kanopy and Hoopla through my local library (and I love no commercials). Free (or subsidized by my rising property taxes anyway.)
I think it was NPR where I heard a recent story that the streaming companies will likely be building more "bundles" of services with other companies. Will be interested to see what that looks like.
