... I tend to take my RMD after a market rally.
Didn't plan it that way, but it looks like that's what I ended up doing by waiting.

Only downside is now my end of year balance is going to be higher and thus next year's RMD. It was the opposite last year.
Well, up to you, but I’m personally cashing out my 2024 RMD next week. Who knows if the market is going to exceed the near all time high again next December. I’d rather guard against a 20% correction vs an unlikely further 20% uptick. Studies have shown we feel twice as much pain from a loss as joy from a win. I’m happy to take a healthy RMD next week based on the current run.
