I've enjoyed an expensive hobby for a couple of years. After a major life event am kind of questioning priorities and expenses ( but we do not need to save the money). How the heck does everyone justify an extra vehicle, a boat, a plane, or other such things when you consider storage fees, insurance, fuel, and similar? My fixed costs are at least $600 per month!
What are your hobbies, how much do they cost, and how do you justify the expense?
Some hobbies/avocations are just more expensive than others. I don't really try to justify the cost of owning an airplane, because any reasonable argument fails. But I wanted one, can afford one, and so I have one. Nothing cooler than an airplane, IMO.If you are trying to justify your spending, then that is a very personal thing imho. IF you can afford it, and it's not bothering anyone, then it's your money and you shouldn't feel bad about spending it on hobbies if it brings you happiness. Those are questions only you can answer though.
But the real cost is that I've lost all leverage regarding DW's desired spending. There is little I can respond with when she says "well you have an airplane..."
