Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Can Reasonably Well Off Elderly Mom Afford A Nicer Home?

I haven't read all of this yet, but $6K rent in an MCOL? That must be a pretty large place. Is there a way you can improve her current house to possibly add some features she would like? Most seniors around where I live (and myself, not a senior) spend most of our time sitting out on our porches. How far is she currently from her friends? I wouldn't move a 90-year-old to another house. Something could happen tomorrow to change the circumstances.
She’s upgraded her home a bit over time but not very much. Her area used to be quiet and sedate but now it’s crowded and highly trafficked.

New place is in an HCOLA. It is large. As far as timing, it’s delicate because it’s not clear how much time she can contract for. I think prepaying per quarter for a quarter by quarter term could work, rather than month to month.
Small landlords are discriminatory.
