You should not have a problem in a CMA with using FDRXX or other auto-liquidating MMFs. I think the issue arises when one uses the Cash Manager feature to pull funds from one account to another.

FDRXX and SPAXX have about the same yield. I assume FDRXX may be better if you have state and/or local taxes since part of FDRXX may be state/local tax exempt.

What state are you in and what are your state and local tax rates?
Thanks for the response.

I'm in Texas so there is no state tax.

I envision a world where I have cash in my CMA, all my bills and credit cards are on autopay. All I ever have to do is make sure I have plenty in FDRXX and the rest is on autopilot. The simplicity sounds amazing.
Why not just make SPAXX your core and not have to manually buy?
this. easiest just to use spaxx. esp since in TX
