Nothing in that article contradicts what I said. I might as well add personal experience; I added my two kids as authorized users on my Citi cards that are 30+ years old. Over 6 years ago. As of last week, neither of them has a credit score. My high 800+ credit score didn't do squat for helping their credit score. It depends on the issuer. This does NOT help build your credit score. You need to have a credit card solely in your name. In the past being added as an authorized user did help, but the credit score algorithms are tweaked to ignore such cards now.My parents have a good credit score and recently added me to their credit card, and I only use the card to buy gas. Overtime, I will be able to build up my credit score as the bill gets paid off each month and also practice that habit as well.

Note that the credit score is pulled from credit history reported in a credit bureau's file. The FICO algorithm then analyzes that information. The issuer has zero part to play there. FICO newer versions simply ignore information from credit cards on which they are reported as authorized users and not primary/joint account holders.
