As others have said, look at the makeup of the target date fund and pick the one that resonates with your desired asset allocation. I’m fortunate to have good S&P 500, extended market, and bond index funds in my 401k but only active international so I blend in a TDF to get some international exposure. Since I’m 90/10, I pick the TDF that is meant for the youngest people. Besides the bond fund, it’s the worst performing of my investments because international hasn’t done very well in recent years. It’s working as intended to diversify.
