Thanks for the link:Very good looking system compared to a lot of the older ones I've been around.
I worked in an office with a rehabilitation engineer for about 20 years, but retired 12 years ago so I'm way out of touch with the advances in the field. The advances have been constant, even if some of them never make it into production. I was sent to Atlanta for a week a long time ago for the RESNA conference in order to see some of the tech that was coming. Fascinating.

It's not all mobility related of course. They work with all kinds of assistive technology.
"RESNA, the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America, is the premier professional organization dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of people with disabilities through increasing access to technology solutions. RESNA advances the field by offering certification, continuing education, and professional development; developing assistive technology standards; promoting research and public policy; and sponsoring forums for the exchange of information and ideas to meet the needs of our multidisciplinary constituency. RESNA is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit membership association.
The organization's legal name is RESNA."
Like many areas of medical and insurance related things, the "medical assist"/"health care devices/aids." and "mobility" industry, especially at the retail level, is highly predatorial. Replete with fancy websites, glossy ads of the happy senior couple in AARP magazine, and all that.
"Operators are standing by, call now, have your credit card ready, instant financing available in 200 uneasy payments".
thanks
