Yes, see that, unfortunately you cannot filter on cap gains, which would make it a lot easier. Of course, you can export and then filter, but it should not be that difficult. To find 10 years of Vanguard fund distributions, use their "advisors" web site instead of the "investors" site.I am trying to remember what the cap gains (both long term and short term) were in the past - this info is not easily available for some reason. Can you shed more light on the capital gains distributions produced by VMLUX (Limited Duration Muni)? How much could one expect (maximum) as a percentage of the investment (or, say, per $10K invested)?VWIUX, and I am hoping that it will be the same wih VTEB, has not have cap gains distributions, unlike VWLUX, VMLUX, VMATX. While it is not a lot, I like the predictability of VTEB/VWIUX so I can better plan out Roth conversions.
This link shows VWLUX: https://www.wsj.com/market-data/quotes/mutualfund/VWLUX. It is not accurate, as I know VMLUX has had cap gains as well as other funds where it shows none.
It was not a lot, but kind of random, and sometimes (not often) as much as 15%-20% of the income distribution, so maybe .6%, $60 per $10K. On average, it is probably about 4% of distributions over time, or about $10-$15 per $10K. The larger amounts seem to coincide with the larger changes in the bond market. Does not really change the overall return by much, but since I have a large position, and fine tune my zero tax bracket for Roth conversions, it was frustrating. Not coincidentally, the year I did a big TLH and converted all my VWIUX to VWLUX/VMLUX was the year there was the largest cap gains distribution, which ate up a chunk of the TLH.
For VMLUX, start here: https://advisors.vanguard.com/investmen ... ucts/VMLUX (replace VMLUX with another ticker if you wish)
Click on "Price & distributions"
Scroll down a bit until you see a button "Export distribution data" and click it to download a CSV.
From what I can see, there's been only Income distributions in the last 10 years, no cap gains.
VWIUX had miniscule STCG and LTCG of $0.0035/sh and $0.0133/sh, on 12/30/2021.
It is rare for VWIUX to have cap gains, and yes they were small
VWLUX on 12/30/2021 had a combined st/lt gain of .064 compared to a monthly distribution of .026, which, at 2.5 months of distributions, not insignificant.
