What kind of water heaters have you been buying? I knew someone that went through like 3 Rheem water heaters from Home Depot in a short time span.
We have really "hard" water where I live, but I got 20 years on two different water heaters. I think brand matters. My plumber dropped AO Smith because they had too many callbacks. Now they use Bradley White. They don't put in "Home Depot" water heaters.
I would think even if you had stainless steel, you would have issues with mineral build up. When I got rid of my heaters, there were no leaks, it was just full of debris that couldn't be flushed out. It sounded like a popcorn machine and I knew I was on borrowed time anyway.
